This route map below is referenced here as it is part of the “Western Way”, we will go Maum to Oughterard direction.

What to wear and bring on the hike

• Rucksack (no string bags)
• Hiking Boots and/or suitable shoes for walking on forest paths & runners/trainers for roads/paths. (The 1st part of the route is forest paths and Hiking boots required, 2nd part of route is path/road and so trainers/runners would be better)
• Rain gear (coat and trousers)
• Water (at least 2 litres)
• Warm Drink*
• Good size Lunch & snacks
• Personal first aid kit
• Black seats
• Neckerchief
• Hi Viz
• Hat and gloves *
• Warm layers*
• Sunhat*
• Hand sanitiser
• Hand wipes
• Insect repellent
• Change of Socks ( 2 Pairs )
• Change of Clothes ( For afterwards )

Cubs should wear their usual hiking clothes. Please make sure that legs are completely covered. Can all cubs please wear insect repellent on any exposed areas.
