Kilcoona Scout Group (26th Galway) is seeking sponsorship partners for our first ever overseas scouting expedition

About Our Group

Established in 1999, Kilcoona Scout Group is a rural scouting organization serving north County Galway, including Claran, Headford, Annaghdown, Corrandulla, Caherlistrane and Kilcoona. We currently support 86 young people across four sections (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Ventures) with the dedication of 20 volunteer adult leaders.

Our group is particularly known for outdoor skills including camping, backwoods skills, pioneering, hillwalking and emergency preparedness. Beyond scouting activities, we actively contribute to our local community through litter picks, maintaining the community garden, and supporting community events.

The Swedish Jamboree 2026

The Swedish Jamboree represents an extraordinary educational opportunity for our young people. This international scouting event will enable them to:

  • Experience international cooperation and cultural exchange with scouts from around the world
  • Develop independence and confidence through international travel
  • Build on their outdoor skills in a new environment
  • Create lasting connections with the global scouting community
  • Represent Ireland and County Galway on an international stage

For many of our members from rural Galway, this will be their first opportunity to travel internationally and participate in an event of this scale.

The cost of sending our contingent to Sweden represents a significant financial challenge for families in our rural community. We are committed to ensuring that cost does not prevent any young person from accessing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
