Cub Athlone Camp 9th-11th June 2023

  • Follow all Brown Signs for Portlick Campsite from Glassan village.
  • Follow Traffic Mgmt advice – as some of the Journey into Campsite is one way

  • Please wait with your Cub until a Kilcoona Scouter is available at the car park. We will chaperone Cubs from there to site.

Information for Camp

  • Friday 9th
    • Please make sure Cubs have dinner/food before arrival. We will have Supper but wont be setup in time to have a Meal on Friday night.
    • Any change to medication or new medication that Cubs will have with them – if we need to administer – please download , print and supply to Kilcoona Scouter – https://26thgalway.ie/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/SIF-11A-10-Managing-Medications-Form.pdf
    • Meet at Kilcoona Centre to load van on Friday 9th at 5:00pm ( if you can ) , otherwise we can see you in Athlone from 630PM for site setup.
    • Arrival at Campsite from 630PM . Please wait with your Cub until a Kilcoona Leader arrvies.
    • Anyone arriving later can call Stephen and will meet at Car Park.
  • Sunday 11th
    • Pickup at 1PM from same Car Park as “dropoff” – see https://linktr.ee/cubcamp
    • We would appreciate some assistance with Van empty , on return to Kilcoona Centre to unload at approx 230-300pm Sunday.

Cubs are responsible for their own Gear. They must check before leaving Athlone

Friday Night Sandwich/Lunch Snack – Advise is to feed Cubs at home before Travelling.
Neckerchief (to be worn at all times)
Track suit or pajamas
2 full changes of clothes (no jeans)
Plan T-Shirt as part of costume
Rain gear – jacket and leggings (no ponchos please)
Cub Jumper
Towel/Changing towel
Wash bag including Sun cream, toothbrush and toothpaste
Wellies/crocks (easy to slip into shoes)
Warm hat & gloves
Roll Mat/ Sleeping mat (no yoga mat)
Sleeping Bag – 3/4 season sleeping bag
Head Torch / Torch & spare batteries
Small rucksack (for drink and snacks)
Black bag with name on it for wet and dirty clothes
Refillable drink bottle and small lunch box
Swimming costume, long sleeve activity top, trainers or wet shoes
Thermal top and leggings layer as evenings can be cool
Warm Jumper / fleece
Note book and pen
Trainers
First Aid Kit
Sun Hat

Note: There is no need to bring any food (including sweets) as it will all be provided.

If your Cub requires any medication while we are on camp please talk to your section leader. Any medication needed by your child please provide it in a clear resealable plastic bag with instructions on it. It will also include the medical consent from.
