26th Kilcoona Galway Scout Group is a rural Scouting group serving a large community area, including Claran, Headford, Annaghdown, Corrandulla, Caherlistrane, and Kilcoona.

Our group has five youth sections. Beavers, which includes children from ages six to eight. Cubs, includes children from ages nine to eleven. Scouts, includes children from ages twelve to fourteen. Ventures, includes teenagers from ages fifteen to seventeen. And Rovers, which includes young adults from ages eighteen to twenty-five.

We provide a fun, educational, community based scouting programme for the young people in our area, enabling them to build the skills they need to maximise life’s opportunities. We achieve this in many ways, including outdoor adventure, working together in our Scout Group, and various youth-led programmes.

With a focus on progressive self-education known as the Scout Method, we deliver a range of opportunities for young people to develop their skills, talents, and leadership potential. By using this method, we aim to nurture the mental, physical, and holistic growth of young people of all ages.‍

Scouting supports young people in becoming active citizens and empowers them to create peace in their communities. We encourage working together to create a better world through the Scout Group and the local community. As Scouts, we stand for friendship, compassion, respect, and peace.

Both Scouting Ireland and 26th Kilcoona Scout Group welcome all members. We do not tolerate any form of discrimination on any grounds, including, but not limited to: gender, sexuality, race, religion or belief, social class, health, age, or disability.

As of August 2023, we are a registered charity with the Charities Regulator in Ireland #20206571.
